Of Cement, Power and Chandrayan

Often, I wonder, I should evade tax, and stop voting. I already haven't voted anybody else apart for ABV, thrice, in Lucknow. I voted precisely for him not for any party or coalition.

These days, I feel, even these supposedly "cerebral" politicos don't deserve a vote. Apart from exceptions like Arun Shourie, and Suresh Prabhu.

These following incidents justify my resolve.

Recently, central government "warned" the cement companies to reduce the recent phenomenal price hikes. Sure a noble thought! But for whom - us ? Certainly not.

For cement their heart bled, but about the spiraling property costs ? No check, no regulations. Builders have tripled the property cost in Pune since last one year(2500/Sq Ft). But no check on them.

And where are these properties? Certainly not in the mid of the city but 20-25 KM outskirts. Not even proper road connectivity is given. No value addition even in an year, but just the price addition every week.

So much about the builder-politico nexus.

Now let's discuss the power scenario. Abysmal, to say the least, in almost whole of the north and central(barring Uttaranchal, Orrissa & Chhatisgarh) of India since ages. But nothing happens.

But when things became worse for Delhi, then only they sat up and took notice. As if people don't live anywhere else. At the same time, Oil and Gas ministry are throwing spanners in Anil Ambani's Dadri power project by questioning the pricing of gas deal between RNRL and RIL.

Idiots!

And yes, despite of all of this, we will go to Moon by spending billions. So what if there is no light in most cities, leave alone villages. So what if people can't afford their own houses.

Let them go. It would be the first time that we will have monkeys on the moon!
